Iris’s Story

Community and Rehab Care - Community Living / July 29, 2024

Iris Lorentzos joined our ResCare family on October 19, 1992, and has been a source of inspiration for her peers and caregivers ever since. From 1963 to 1982, Iris lived at the Orlando Sunland Center which was shut down following charges of extreme neglect and improper patient care. Despite decades of living through adversity, Iris has a meaningful life and is thriving with ResCare.

Iris is a natural socialite with an outgoing personality and polished sense of humor, which quickly made her very popular in Clearwater as she formed priceless friendships. Her favorite things in life are friends, fashion, cosmetics, restaurants, and socializing with others.

Everyone gets excited when Iris decides to host one of her memorable parties. She is very specific about what food is served to her guests and prefers to have an abundance of frilly decorations. Iris also loves to invite her favorite staff members to go out to eat. Her favorite restaurant is Red Lobster because they offer all-you-can-eat shrimp.

In 2020, Iris decided it was time for the next step in her life’s journey: an excellent “retirement” at the 39th Avenue Cluster in Gainesville. Although Iris truly cherished her amazing friends and decades of memories in Clearwater, she continues to inspire others every day while enjoying life to the fullest.
